"An Old Hope" a film written and directed by Dan Gvozden will be premiering at the First Run Film Festival.

"An Old Hope" stars Hugh Scully, Stephen Gleason, and Kether Donohue, was produced by Nick Gaglia and Aliki Paraschis, and features cinematography by Trisha Solyn.

About the film:
When Lucas Ford returns from a 30 year sabbatical with a script he claims as his masterpiece he soon realizes, with the help of his talent agent Jerry Bond, that his script has already been made into a movie called Star Wars!

The film will be screening at the Cantor Film Center on March 25th. The festival starts at 3PM with a wonderful film by Dorian Carli-Jones called "Pictures of You" but "An Old Hope" probably won't be on until 3:45PM if you cannot make it earlier, though this is unadvised.

Dan Gvozden will be distributing DVD copies of the film after the viewing.

Dear family and friends,

Welcome to the An Old Hope website!

I write to you now about a film project that I am embracing in the next few months, but in reality I am writing this now about the path that led me here. To think that I have come this far, would have been inconceivable a few years back. I started my journey into the world of filmmaking in my last year at Severna Park High School. I am now about to graduate from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

However, to complete my time here at NYU I have one large task in my path, the creation of this film, An Old Hope. In the final year of schooling at NYU, the students are asked to compete for ten allotments that allow you to make your film. The competition was fierce but I was able to prove myself to the administration that I was one of those ten students. With this allotment comes equipment, a small check, and (most importantly) the ability to make my film.

So what exactly is An Old Hope? (other than a play off the title of the first Star Wars film?) Well a brief synopsis of the film can be found here. An Old Hope is a dramatic comedy that connects with the universal feeling that we've all experienced, spending your life doing something that has already been done. How many of us strive to do something original and unique with their lives only to find out we are too late? I think this is what the artistic process is all about, and this is what I plan on making light of.

I have assembled an incredible team of artists to help this movie come to fruition. Many of these artists are award-winning filmmakers who have come to me through their interest in the script. Kristen Adams, the production designer, will be in charge of building the sets and making the universe of An Old Hope as rich and believable as possible. Her work is just phenomenal and I hope that you check it out here. Nick Gaglia, the producer, is currently touring the country with his film Over the GW, and is receiving acclaim from many critics, including The New York Times.

After I graduate, an opportunity like making An Old Hope is almost impossible to have. As one of the ten students at NYU with an allotment I am receiving free insurance and equipment, something that costs tens of thousands of dollars in the professional circuit. As I'm sure you know, entering the film world is incredibly difficult. Sometimes even the smallest thing can help you find a way in. I am hoping that An Old Hope might be one of my small things. We are submitting it to the AtomFilms Star Wars Film Festival, as well as FirstRun, a large festival in New York.

However, I need your help to achieve these dreams. As a broke college student I don't have all the funds that I would require to make this project as I envision it to be. So if you would like to help out and fuel my dreams I would be thrilled to receive your donation. Every cent will help. You can make donations on my Contribute page. I hope to raise $5,000, so any contribution is greatly needed and forever appreciated.

Thank you so much and I hope that you will keep checking back to this site for details and updates on the production of An Old Hope!

Your friend,

Dan Gvozden
